Rep. Jerry Nadler, a longstanding Congressman from New York's 12th district, recently shared updates on various pressing issues through his social media presence. Representing constituents in the U.S. Congress since 1992, Nadler's posts encapsulate his positions on legislative actions and urban development topics.
On April 10, 2025, Rep. Nadler expressed opposition to the Republicans’ “SAVE” Act, asserting the bill's demands for documentation would negatively impact many Americans. He highlighted that "millions of Americans don’t have the documents this bill demands—and nearly 70 million women, including 4 million in New York, now have last names that don't match their birth certificates." He emphasized the difficulties these individuals would face navigating such requirements.
Later that day, Nadler announced a collaborative op-ed with port expert Andrew Genn, published in the New York Daily News. They addressed the future of the Red Hook port, urging the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and task force members to prioritize the development of the Brooklyn port. His message was clear: "build the Brooklyn port now, push pause on luxury housing."
Additionally, on the same date, Nadler affirmed his dedication to health education and preventative care as a member of the Equality Caucus. He stated his commitment to young people's rights to comprehensive health education and access to preventative care, particularly in reducing HIV spread, during the New York HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Nadler expressed his views on Twitter emphasizing his dedication, "fighting for young people’s right to a robust health education and to protecting their access to preventative care."
Nadler is a native New Yorker, having been born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan. He graduated from Columbia University in 1969 and later earned a JD from Fordham University in 1978. He has represented New York’s 12th District in Congress since 1992, succeeding Ted Weiss, and previously served in the New York State Assembly.
