The New York Republican State Committee has issued a statement addressing Governor Kathy Hochul's endorsement of abolishing the Electoral College. The committee expressed strong opposition to Hochul's stance, describing it as "another radical step in Democrats’ ongoing effort to dismantle any institution that keeps them from power."
The statement highlighted the importance of the Electoral College, emphasizing its role in ensuring that all states have a voice in presidential elections. According to the NYGOP, the system "protects against mob rule, balances the interests of rural and urban areas, and preserves the federalist principles on which our nation was founded."
Additionally, NYGOP Spokesman David Laska commented on Governor Hochul's current political standing. He noted that with her favorability ratings low and facing potential challenges within her own party, she is attempting to shift focus away from what he described as her "abysmal record."
