Rep. Jerry Nadler, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district, has criticized recent actions by prominent figures in the national government. In a series of tweets, Nadler addresses decisions impacting federal agencies and educational institutions. He has consistently advocated for public sector integrity and the protection of educational and health services throughout his political career.
On April 1, 2025, Nadler commented on the dismissal of thousands of experts from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In a tweet, he said, "Firing 10,000 of our nation's top scientists, doctors, and public health experts is not reform—it’s sabotage. Trump, Musk, and Kennedy Jr.’s reckless purge of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is gutting the agency American families rely on to stop disease".
Nadler further critiqued former President Donald Trump's administrative decisions concerning the Department of Education. He remarked on the same date, "Make no mistake. Trump’s actions are not rooted in genuine concern for combatting hate. If Trump were truly committed to fighting antisemitism, he would not have crippled the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, the only agency specifically tasked with enforcing".
Continuing his critical observations, Nadler also addressed potential funding withdrawals affecting higher education institutions. In his tweet on April 1, 2025, he noted:, "Withholding funding from Columbia and, potentially, Harvard will not make Jewish students safer. Cutting funding to programs that work to cure cancer and make other groundbreaking discoveries will not make Jewish students safer. Impounding congressionally appropriated funding".
