NYGOP Chair Ed Cox expressed approval following a Court of Appeals decision that blocked non-citizens from voting in New York City elections. The court ruled 6-1 against the city law, aligning with two previous lower court decisions that deemed the legislation unconstitutional.

In his statement, Cox said, "The Court of Appeals made the correct decision today. Only citizens may vote in our elections." He criticized efforts by "radical Democrats on the New York City Council" to allow non-citizen voting and acknowledged those who opposed the law, specifically mentioning Congressman Nick Langworthy for initiating actions against it during his tenure as State Party Chair.
