He described the plan as a "cash-grab" that would have imposed an unfair tax on New Yorkers, who he noted are already heavily taxed.
Cox criticized Governor Hochul's handling of the congestion pricing plan, stating, "Governor Hochul’s cancellation of the plan right before the 2024 election, following its reinstatement right after the election, was the worst kind of cynical politics." He further commented on what he perceives as Hochul's disregard for New Yorkers' financial burdens, contrasting it with President Trump's actions.
