Colby Riexinger (Brockport, NY/Brockport), Lindsay DeBoth (Amherst, NY/Amherst), Brianna Garcia (Buffalo, NY/Canisius College), Hannah Heil (Medina, NY/Medina), and Maggie Parobek (Amherst, NY/Amherst) of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been recognized for their outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments, earning selection to the 2022-23 Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must display combined excellence in their sport and in the classroom, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above through at least two full semesters at their institution, while also participating in at least 50% of their team's contests during the season.
Riexinger, a sophomore forensic chemistry and biology major, has a 3.62 cumulative GPA at Buffalo State and has been named to the Dean's List twice. Riexinger held the top times on the men's team this year in the 50 back (28.38), 100 back (59.95), and 200 back (2:16.50).
DeBoth, a sophomore early childhood/exceptional education major, holds a 3.81 cumulative GPA and has been named to the Dean's List in all three of her semesters. DeBoth held the top time on the women's side this year in the 100 IM with a time of 1:15.04.
Garcia, a grad student and science education major, carries a cumulative GPA of a 4.00 at Buffalo State. Garcia has earned Dean's List honor in all three semesters the institution. Garcia also served as a team captain this past season and specialized in the 50, 100, and 200 free.
Heil, a sophomore fashion merchandising major, has a 3.81 cumulative GPA at Buffalo State. Heil has also earned Dean's List every semester at Buffalo State. She placed third in both the 50 (24.11) and 100 free at SUNYAC Championships while earning third team All-SUNYAC honors in both. Heil also broke the school record in the 100 free (52.12) and was part of the school record breaking 200 medley relay (1:52.49).
Parobek, a sophomore graphic design major, holds a 3.62 cumulative GPA and has earned Dean's List honors twice. Parobek finished 11th at SUNYAC Championships in the 100 breast (1:10.91), 10th in the 200 fly (2:22.48) and was also part of the school record breaking 200 medley relay.
With the Academic All-District distinction, all five athletes will advance to the ballot for Academic All-America.
