New York Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to apologize for covering up for the high number of deaths related to COVID-19 in nursing homes.
He told John Roberts, America Reports that the governor should apologize before he is called to resign.
Molinaro has asked for a criminal investigation into Cuomo in the wake of Melissa DeRosa’s admission of underreporting the number of deaths.
DeRosa has also recently told Democratic lawmakers that she thinks “a lot of these nursing homes, frankly, retrospectively, even prior to COVID have been getting away with a lot for a lot of years,” according to audio reviewed by the New York Post, Fox News reported.
Molinaro said that the governor “lied every single day” to New Yorkers and all Americans and has used manipulated data to shut down businesses and communities.
When asked if he would want an impeachment proceeding against Cuomo to start, Molinaro answered “absolutely.”
He further said that the governor is “not fit to hold public office."
"We’ve known all along that this is the most corrupted and least transparent administration in America," Molinaro commented. "We now know it’s also the deadliest."
Molinaro ran against Cuomo in the 2018 gubernatorial election.
