The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson announced on May 11 that it will host a free NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program for local residents. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16 at 6 p.m. at the James Harmon Community Center, located at 44 Main Street in Hastings-on-Hudson.
The program aims to help community members prepare for both natural and man-made disasters by providing practical guidance. Organizers say the training will cover topics such as creating a family emergency plan, assembling an emergency supply kit, and learning how to respond and recover safely from emergencies.
According to the announcement, registration is required to attend the session. Each participating family will receive one free preparedness kit while supplies last.
“We encourage residents to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to learn how to better protect themselves and their families,” said organizers in the statement.
The initiative comes as severe weather events become more frequent and extreme across many communities. Local officials hope that by attending this training, residents will be better equipped to handle emergencies when they arise.
