Two people were injured in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Judd Road and Cider Street in the Town of Whitestown, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol on May 13.

The incident is significant as it highlights the importance of obeying traffic signals to prevent injuries. Motor vehicle accidents can have serious consequences for those involved and often require emergency response from multiple agencies.

Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 8:55 a.m. on May 12. The investigation found that Elizabeth Tran, age 34, of Utica, was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra southbound on Judd Road when she failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Cider Street. As she passed through the red signal, her vehicle struck a 2018 Ford F150 driven by James Sullivan, age 73, also of Utica, who was traveling east through the intersection. The impact caused Tran’s car to leave the roadway and roll down an embankment.

Tran sustained minor injuries and was evaluated on scene by Oriskany Fire Department before being transported to Wynn Hospital. Sullivan was also evaluated for minor injuries at the scene; he was treated and released.

Citations will be issued as a result of this accident. Deputies were assisted by Oriskany Fire Department, Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Ken’s Garage, and Upstate Auto Gallery.
