Syracuse women’s rowing team selected for NCAA championships in Georgia

The Syracuse women’s rowing team was selected on May 19 to compete at the 2026 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships in Gainesville, Georgia. The Orange, ranked No. 11, earned an at-large bid and will participate in the event from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31.

This marks the sixth consecutive season that Syracuse has qualified for the NCAA Championships under head coach Luke McGee. The event will take place on Lake Lanier and features three races: Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four.

Syracuse is among 22 teams chosen for this year’s championship regatta. The field also includes four other Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) squads.

The Orange recently finished fourth at the ACC Championships held in Raleigh, North Carolina. Two of their boats won medals: the Second Varsity Four placed second and the Second Varsity Eight earned a bronze medal. Ellie-Kate Hutchinson received First Team All-ACC honors while Acorn Cassidy and Kateryna Ustiuzhanina were named to the Second Team.

Friday’s BIG EAST baseball tournament matchup between St. John’s and Xavier has been postponed due to bad weather in Mason, Ohio. The teams will now play on Saturday afternoon, with further games scheduled through Sunday.
