Syracuse women’s rowing places fourth at ACC Championships in Raleigh

The Syracuse women’s rowing team finished fourth at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships at Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 16, earning a total of 103 points.

The event saw Stanford win first place for the second consecutive year with 132 points, sweeping all grand finals. Virginia took second with 118 points and California placed third with 108 points.

Ellie-Kate Hutchinson was named to the All-ACC First Team. Acorn Cassidy and Katia Ustiuzhanina were selected as Second Team honorees. The Orange reached the grand finals in every event, becoming one of four programs to have all five boats compete for medals on Saturday.

The team’s Second Varsity Four (2V4) secured a silver medal with a time of 7:15.490, finishing about three seconds ahead of California and four seconds ahead of Virginia. The Second Varsity Eight (2V8) also earned a medal by finishing behind Virginia and Stanford with a time of 6:27.260.

Syracuse’s Varsity Eight (V8) narrowly missed out on a medal, placing fourth with a time of 6:19.830—just half a second behind California. The Third Varsity Eight (3V8) finished fifth in their final race while the Varsity Four (V4) came in fourth place after posting a time of 7:17.650, three seconds behind California.

Looking ahead, the NCAA Selection Show is scheduled to air on NCAA.com at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19. This year’s NCAA Championship will take place from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31 in Gainesville, Georgia on Lake Lanier.
