The Crew Table, a documentary series focused on Emergency Medical Services, highlighted the SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech Paramedic Program in an episode released during National EMS Week on May 20. The episode offered viewers a look inside the program’s simulation labs and classroom instruction, while also exploring conversations about EMS culture and how instructors prepare students for real-world challenges.
The feature matters because it brings attention to how paramedic education is evolving to better prepare future clinicians through hands-on learning and cultural change within the profession. The Crew Table spent several days with students and faculty to document their approach to teaching and professional development.
“We are humbled and honored that The Crew Table chose us to be their first endeavor into documenting EMS education, and are glad to see that our dedication to changing EMS culture shines through in the episode,” said Paramedic Program Director Howard Huth.
On its YouTube channel, The Crew Table described its experience by saying, “With exceptional pass rates, experienced educators, and a mission rooted in changing EMS from the foundation up, SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech is building clinicians who value critical thinking and patient care long before they step onto an ambulance alone. This is more than paramedic school. It’s a look at how the culture of EMS can evolve when education comes first.”
Creator Shayla Morris said, “The Crew Table was honored to film a unique feature of the SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech Paramedic program. We find that the most fulfilling part of filming first responders, medical professionals, and public safety officers is the relationships they build along the way. The instructors that make up this program are nothing short of amazing. It’s evident to us that they are changing EMS from the foundation up with every class that graduates. They are the definition of ‘lead by example’ and the students we met mirror the characteristics these strong leaders exemplify. We are so grateful to the College for allowing us to spend time on their campus and give the community insight to how the paramedics who respond to their emergencies are really trained!”
According to the official website, SUNY Cobleskill School of Agriculture and Natural Resources operates as part of SUNY Cobleskill where it prepares students for careers in agriculture-related fields through hands-on learning opportunities such as working farms, greenhouses, dairy operations as well as programs like animal science or environmental studies.
