Rep. Jerry Nadler, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing New York's 12th district, has shared his views on several pressing issues through recent tweets. Known for his extensive career in politics, Nadler continues to advocate for consumer protection and government accountability.
On February 10, 2025, Rep. Nadler highlighted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) achievements in securing $19.7 billion for consumers and benefiting 195 million people by holding predatory businesses accountable. He noted the bureau's high approval rating: "The CFPB has secured $19.7 billion for consumers by holding predatory businesses accountable, benefiting 195 million people. No wonder it has a 75% approval rating—including from most Republicans."
In another tweet posted on the same day, Nadler questioned why prominent wealthy individuals would want to dismantle the CFPB. He emphasized that Democrats aim to protect and empower the agency: "So why do the richest man on the planet and a billionaire president want to dismantle it? Because the CFPB fights for people, not the ultra-wealthy. Democrats have a better way: Protect and empower the CFPB to stand up for American families against predatory business practices…"
Later that day, Rep. Nadler addressed misinformation regarding FEMA funding under President Trump's administration in 2019. He clarified that emergency food and shelter program funds are separate from disaster relief funds: "This is completely false. In 2019, President Trump expanded FEMA's Emergency Food and Shelter Program to help local governments offset the costs associated with migrant assistance. This funding is strictly separate from FEMA's disaster relief funds and can't be diverted."
