Rep. Jerry Nadler, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district, recently expressed his views on social media regarding former President Donald Trump's actions and rhetoric. His statements come amid ongoing national discussions about leadership and governance.
On January 30, 2025, Rep. Nadler addressed former President Trump’s executive orders, urging him to reconsider them. He stated: "I once again urge Donald Trump to go back to the drawing board with his harmful, poorly drafted Executive Orders." Nadler emphasized that "The American people want prosperity, safety, and stability, not this chaos."
Later that day, Rep. Nadler criticized Trump's response to a tragic collision during recovery efforts. He described it as "appalling and deeply irresponsible," accusing Trump of exploiting the situation for political gain by blaming diversity in FAA hiring practices rather than focusing on the investigation: "It is appalling and deeply irresponsible that...Donald Trump is exploiting this tragic collision to push a divisive and baseless narrative—blaming the FAA’s hiring of women and people of color instead of focusing on the investigation."
In another post made almost simultaneously, Rep. Nadler further commented on Trump's rhetoric: "This kind of rhetoric is beneath the office of the President." He called for leadership that unites rather than divides during times of tragedy.
