The New York Republican State Committee has issued a statement acknowledging the conclusion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the federal government. This follows an executive order from President Trump that mandates the closure of all DEI offices by 5:00 PM ET today. The order also places DEI officers on paid leave prior to their termination.
The statement released by the NYGOP emphasizes that "all Americans should celebrate the end of divisive and ineffective DEI policies that prioritize identity politics over merit." It suggests these policies have fostered division and detracted from excellence and accountability in public service. The committee believes this move aligns with restoring common sense to federal governance under President Trump's leadership.
Furthermore, the NYGOP urges New York State to take similar actions by eliminating DEI programs across its government institutions, including SUNY and CUNY. David Laska, a spokesman for the NYGOP, addressed those who felt adversely affected by DEI policies in recent years, stating, "this moment is for you."
