ALBANY – NYGOP Chair Ed Cox released a statement criticizing President Joe Biden's recent executive order on immigration. Cox described the order as "an insincere election year stunt designed to fail," noting that it invokes a Trump-era immigration action previously challenged in court by the ACLU. The civil liberties organization has already indicated plans for legal action against the Biden Administration.
Cox referenced Congressman Lawler, who characterized the move as "election-year politics, plain and simple." He argued that if President Biden were serious about addressing immigration issues, he would reinstate former President Trump's 'Remain in Mexico' policy. According to Cox, this policy had effectively curbed illegal migration at the southern border before being discontinued by the current administration.
Cox also criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul's involvement in supporting the executive order, stating, "Kathy Hochul should be embarrassed to have been a part of this charade, which will do nothing to stem the flow of illegal migrants into New York."
