ALBANY – NYGOP Chair Ed Cox issued a statement regarding Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed restrictions on social media for minors.

“While Kathy Hochul’s proposed restrictions on social media for minors have merit and are worthy of debate, the Governor cannot claim to have the best interests of our children in mind,” said Cox.

He criticized Hochul's 'Equal Rights Amendment,' describing it as "a Trojan Horse that would permit minors to access irreversible gender mutilation surgeries and puberty blockers without parental consent." Cox argued that the amendment applies universally without distinctions for minors.

Cox also highlighted existing policies under Hochul’s administration, stating, “Already on Kathy Hochul’s watch, New York’s Department of Education has put in place policies that deliberately exclude parental notification when a child seeks to change genders in school. Governor Hochul is silent about this outrageous violation of parental rights.”

Concluding his remarks, Cox accused the Governor of being silent on issues concerning "defending our children from so-called ‘progressives’ who would sacrifice our children’s bodies on the altar of radical transgender ideology."
