YouTube suspended former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Monday for a second time, saying he broke the platform’s rules when he continued to make claims of election fraud involving the 2020 presidential election.
Previously, Giuliani allegedly spread conspiracy theories about the election. YouTube has a three-strikes policy and says if Giuliani commits a third infraction within the 90-day time period, he will be permanently banned from YouTube.
"We have clear Community Guidelines that govern what videos may stay on YouTube, which we enforce consistently, regardless of speaker," a YouTube spokeswoman said in a statement, CNET reported. "We removed content from the Rudy W. Giuliani channel for violating our sale of regulated goods policy, which prohibits content facilitating the use of nicotine, and our presidential election integrity policy."
In January, Giuliani was cited for violating several YouTube policies and was banned from using YouTube’s advertising revenue program so he couldn’t make money off of his videos.
Giuliani was named in a lawsuit in January by Dominion Voting Systems for his claims.
