Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 2
The Bethlehem Public Library budget and Board of Trustees vote will be held Tuesday, June 9. It will take place entirely by absentee ballot, which is being mailed to households in the Bethlehem Central School District.
The library has a proposed budget of $4.45 million for the 2020-21 fiscal year. The levy portion of the budget comes in at about $4.17 million, an increase of 2.64 percent over last year and within the state-mandated spending cap.

Also on the ballot are two full-term, five-year seats currently held by incumbents Lisa Scoons and Brian Sweeney. Scoons is seeking re-election, while Sweeney will be stepping down in June. On the ballot in alphabetical order as they appear on the ballot are Marc Gronich, Kristi Narang, Mary Phillips, Lisa Scoons, Ryan Venter and Charmaine Wijeyesinghe.
An informal virtual Meet the Candidates introduction was held Wednesday, May 27, and a recording of the event, along with the candidates’ answers to a voluntary questionnaire, can also be found on the library’s website.
Located in Delmar, Bethlehem Public Library serves a community of more than 26,000 in the Bethlehem Central School District. It provides access to the collections of all 29 libraries in the Upper Hudson Library System, as well as meeting room space, Internet access, technology, and a variety of programs and services for all ages.
