Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson said on May 20 that deputies arrested Michael Wilson, age 66, of Romulus, New York, for driving while intoxicated after a property damage accident in the Town of Romulus.

The case is important because it involves multiple traffic violations and leaving the scene of an accident. According to Thompson, the incident occurred on May 19 at about 8:23 p.m. when Wilson allegedly left his lane unsafely while traveling on State Route 414. The vehicle reportedly went off the roadway and struck a mailbox and an advertisement sign before leaving the scene.

Deputies later located Wilson and took him into custody for driving while intoxicated, which is classified as a misdemeanor. He was also charged with moving from lane unsafely and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Wilson was released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear before Romulus Town Court on July 24 to answer to these charges.

The sheriff’s office did not provide further details about injuries or additional circumstances related to the incident.
