Representative Jerry Nadler, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, used his social media account on August 11, 2025, to comment on former President Donald Trump’s recent actions and address local issues in New York.
In a post published at 15:55 UTC, Nadler criticized Trump by stating: “Trump is desperate to change the subject so Americans stop asking why he’s hiding the Epstein files. If Trump really cared about keeping DC safe, he would have deployed the National Guard to stop the violent insurrections he unleashed on the Capitol on January 6th.”
Later that day, at 16:03 UTC, Nadler addressed Trump’s decision regarding law enforcement in Washington D.C., writing: “Trump’s reckless decision to take control of DC’s police department and mobilize the National Guard when crime in DC is at historic lows is nothing short of authoritarianism.”
In a separate post made at 20:22 UTC, Nadler shifted focus to local concerns after meeting with leadership from NY Common Pantry. He wrote: “It was great to meet with @NYCommonPantry’s Executive Director Stephen Grimaldi and Deputy Director Judy Secon today. We discussed food insecurity, the rising cost of groceries thanks to Trump’s tariffs, and the important work they are doing. I will continue fighting against”
Nadler has been an active figure in national politics for decades. He replaced Ted Weiss in Congress in 1992 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 1977 until his congressional election. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
