Representative Jerry Nadler, who serves New York’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media criticizing former President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies.
On January 6, 2026, Nadler marked the anniversary of the Capitol attack by stating: “Five years ago today, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to attack the United States Capitol in a direct attempt to overturn a free and fair election. Trump has rewarded violent insurrectionists who attacked law enforcement with sweeping pardons, while continuing to spread”.
The following day, Nadler addressed federal funding issues for social services and childcare. On January 7, 2026, he wrote: “The Trump administration is once again playing political games with our most vulnerable families by threatening to freeze more than $10 billion in federal childcare and social services funding to New York and other states. Let me be clear: the Trump administration has provided https://t.co/e7qHY2Ke4y”.
Later that same day, Nadler criticized antitrust enforcement under the Trump administration. He stated: “Trump isn’t using antitrust enforcement to protect American jobs, lower prices, or keep markets fair. Trump uses the process to protect himself, reward friends, and punish people who won’t fall in line. We know the antitrust review process under this administration calls for https://t.co/1JrGZSc1RJ”.
Nadler has represented New York’s 12th district since 1992 after succeeding Ted Weiss. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 75, Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
