U.S. Representative Jerry Nadler, who has represented New York’s 12th district in Congress since 1992, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent actions by the Trump administration.
On January 13, 2026, Nadler wrote: “If the US is disguising military planes as civilian planes, Trump and @SecWar are putting civilians’ lives at risk and potentially committing a war crime known as perfidy. These crimes will follow this Administration and can be prosecuted in the future. They must and will be”.
Later that day, he commented on an immigration enforcement action: “This is outrageous. Trump’s ICE is targeting immigrants just because they are immigrants. The NYC Council staffer works and lives here legally and has no criminal record. He must be released immediately.”
On January 14, Nadler addressed Republican proposals regarding deportation for fraud accusations: “.@JudiciaryGOP wants to deport people accused of fraud. It’s a good thing Trump was born in America, or he’d be at the top of the list.”
Nadler has served continuously in Congress since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947, Nadler resides in Manhattan and holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
