Representative Jerry Nadler, a longtime member of Congress representing New York’s 12th district, has recently taken to social media to address several national issues, including federal oversight of immigration facilities, First Amendment protections, and healthcare legislation.
On September 18, 2025, Nadler described an incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “When I went to 26 Federal Plaza to exercise my congressional right to conduct oversight, ICE blocked me from entering. On September 19, 2025, Nadler addressed legislative disagreements in Congress over a continuing resolution affecting healthcare: “I could not in good conscience vote for the GOP continuing resolution, which leave tens of millions of Americans facing higher costs and lost coverage. Democrats put forward a plan to extend ACA tax credits and repeal Medicaid cuts. Republicans refused to even negotiate.”
Nadler has represented New York’s 12th district in Congress since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 until his election to Congress. He was born in New York City in 1947 and resides in Manhattan. Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
