U.S. Representative Jerry Nadler, who has represented New York’s 12th district since 1992, addressed recent issues of gun violence and public corruption in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) in August 2025.

On August 21, Nadler referenced a recent shooting incident in his district: “Last month a gunman killed 4 people in Midtown Manhattan, including a brave police officer. This preventable tragedy right in my district serves as a reminder that Congress has a duty to address the epidemic of gun violence. @RepDanGoldman and I just introduced a resolution”. The post highlights his collaboration with Rep. Dan Goldman and underscores the ongoing debate about legislative action on gun violence.

In another post from August 22, Nadler questioned the decision to disband a public corruption squad: “Then why was this public corruption squad disbanded under your leadership? https://t.co/k9wDZhrC9J https://t.co/wDZaJT9Sce”. This comment points to concerns over accountability and oversight within law enforcement or governmental bodies.

Nadler also shared an additional link without commentary on August 21 (link).

Jerry Nadler, born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, has been involved in politics for decades. Before serving in Congress, he was part of the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. He holds degrees from Columbia University and Fordham University. Since succeeding Ted Weiss in Congress, Nadler has frequently focused on issues relevant to his Manhattan constituency, including crime prevention and government transparency.
