Rep. Jerry Nadler, who represents New York’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media this week addressing local loss, healthcare misinformation, and international developments.

On October 7, 2025, Nadler paid tribute to Saul Zabar, a well-known figure in New York City’s Upper West Side food scene. He wrote, “The UWS and New York City lost one of the greats today. Saul Zabar built an institution that has supplied New Yorkers, including myself, with lox, babka, and whitefish for decades. My condolences to the Zabar family and may his memory be a blessing.”

The following day, on October 8, 2025, Nadler responded to claims regarding hospital reimbursements for undocumented immigrants. He stated, “Absolute nonsense. There is no scenario where hospitals are reimbursed more for treating undocumented immigrants than U.S. citizens. @SpeakerJohnson is deliberately misleading the public, again.”

On October 9, 2025, Nadler commented on reports of an agreement between Israel and Hamas. He said, “The reported agreement between Israel and Hamas promises what has evaded the parties and the global community for over two years: a ceasefire, bringing all the hostages home, a surge of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the beginning of the withdrawal of IDF troops from the Gaza”.

Nadler has served in Congress since 1992 after replacing Ted Weiss and previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University and Fordham University.
