Rep. Jerry Nadler, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, has recently used his social media platform to voice concerns on a range of national issues, including corporate mergers, military actions abroad, and federal agency independence.
On December 5, 2025, Nadler commented on the potential merger between two major entertainment companies: “A Netflix-Warner Bros. would control two of the largest streaming platforms and production studios in the film industry. That means higher prices with less options and lower pay for workers. The Justice Dept must scrutinize this deal and enforce the law.”
Later that day, he criticized recent executive military action: “The President and @SecWar have launched another deadly attack in international waters without congressional authorization. They are committing murder and celebrating on social media. Secretary Hegseth must resign and provide accountability Americans deserve.” This statement was posted on December 5, 2025.
On December 8, 2025, Nadler addressed arguments before the Supreme Court involving former President Trump’s legal team: “In front of SCOTUS, Trump’s lawyers are attempting to strip independence from federal agencies, legitimize firing FTC commissioner @RKSlaughterFTC, and consolidate his power. I stand with Commissioner Slaughter and will continue to fight against Trump’s outrageous power grab.”
Nadler has been an active member of Congress since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. He is known for his legislative work related to civil liberties and oversight responsibilities within government institutions. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 75, Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
