Rep. Jerry Nadler, who represents New York’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on May 14, 2026, highlighting his engagement with New Yorkers and legislative efforts.

In a post from the evening of May 13, Nadler wrote: “Last night I enjoyed meeting New Yorkers at a reception with The Congressional Musicians Caucus & The Congressional Arts Caucus. As we all know, the best art and artists hail from New York, and we’re always happy to celebrate and support these talented individuals.” (May 14, 2026)

Later that day, Nadler addressed his role in labor rights legislation: “I proudly introduced and secured the passage of The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) so pregnant people do not have to choose between their job and their health. This law has helped millions of pregnant workers and benefited our economy by eliminating unreasonable barriers in” (May 14, 2026)

In another post that evening, Nadler criticized federal immigration enforcement actions and Republican lawmakers’ focus on local policy: “While ICE and CBP terrorize our cities, Republicans hosted a sham hearing to distract from the horrors unfolding at Trump’s DHS and to focus on one county in Virginia that has chosen not to join the Trump Administration’s extreme anti-immigrant agenda.” (May 14, 2026)

Nadler has served as a member of Congress since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992. He previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 until his election to Congress. Born in New York City in 1947, Nadler is currently based in Manhattan. He graduated from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in 1969 before earning his law degree from Fordham University in 1978.
