Rep. Jerry Nadler, who represents New York’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account criticizing former President Donald Trump’s recent actions and policies.
On November 17, 2025, Nadler commented on Trump’s position regarding the release of certain files: “Trump’s reversal isn’t a change of heart, it’s him realizing he doesn’t have the votes. He could release all of the files TODAY if he wanted to, but we know he won’t. I will proudly vote YES to force Trump to release the files, and I hope all Members of Congress join me.”
Later that same day, Nadler addressed proposed changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating: “First, Trump cut SNAP by $186B. Now he wants every recipient to reapply, creating bureaucratic red tape that will make it harder for 17M children who rely on SNAP to eat. With costs skyrocketing, the last thing families need is Trump making it harder to feed their kids.” The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program provides food assistance to millions of low-income individuals and families across the United States.
On November 18, 2025, Nadler commented on presidential conduct toward media outlets: “A President who goes after a media critic while his administration controls decisions affecting that outlet’s business interests is not engaging in debate. He is weaponizing the government to silence dissent. No President, Republican or Democrat, should ever use public office to”
Nadler has served in Congress since 1992 after replacing Ted Weiss and previously spent fifteen years in the New York State Assembly. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 75, Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
