Rep. Jerry Nadler, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, voiced concerns on social media regarding recent actions taken by former President Donald Trump and members of his administration.
On December 18, 2025, Nadler criticized what he described as an overreach of authority in renaming an institution: “Trump and his hand-picked “board” do not have the authority to further disgrace this institution by attaching the stench of Trump to its name. Only Congress has the power to make this change; this illegal action won’t stand.Â
Unlike Donald Trump, President Kennedy will be https://t.co/0bzdBwWrVZ“.
Later that same day, Nadler announced a joint effort with Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal calling for scrutiny into Secretary Duffy’s role in altering passenger protection regulations: “.@SenWarren, @SenBlumenthal, and I led a letter calling for an investigation into @SecDuffy’s conflict of interest in his passenger protection rule rollbacks— yet another instance of Trump’s administration prioritizing corporate interest over public good.
@SecDuffy is raising”. The post was followed by a link shared in a subsequent tweet: “https://t.co/TlBlNpAJpt”.
Nadler’s comments highlight ongoing tensions regarding the legacy and influence of former President Trump’s administration on federal institutions and regulatory policy. Calls for investigations into alleged conflicts of interest reflect broader debates about ethics and accountability within government agencies.
Jerry Nadler has represented New York’s 12th District since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992. Before joining Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947, Nadler resides in Manhattan and holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
