Rep. Jerry Nadler, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district, recently took to social media to express his views on several pressing issues. Known for his longstanding service since 1992, Nadler’s statements addressed healthcare coverage and the erasure of LGBTQI+ historical figures.

On June 3, 2025, Nadler shared his concerns about the Trump Administration’s stance on healthcare coverage. In a tweet posted at 19:15 UTC, he stated that “The official position from the Trump Administration now seems to be that nearly 14 million people don’t deserve to continue having health care coverage.” He emphasized that these individuals are not merely statistics but include “cancer patients, kids with asthma, seniors in nursing homes,” affirming his commitment by stating “I’m fighting this.”

Later that day, at 20:12 UTC, Nadler criticized Pete Hegseth for actions perceived as disrespectful towards Harvey Milk during Pride Month. He tweeted that “Pete Hegseth should be ashamed.” He highlighted Milk’s honorable service in the Navy and his role as a pioneering public servant. Nadler described the removal of Milk’s name from a Navy ship as a “petty, disgraceful insult” to both Milk’s legacy and LGBTQI+ Americans currently serving.

Jerry Nadler has been a prominent figure in U.S. politics since replacing Ted Weiss in Congress in 1992. Before this role, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947 and educated at Columbia University and Fordham University, Nadler continues to reside in Manhattan.
