Rep. Jerry Nadler, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, recently posted a series of statements on social media criticizing former President Donald Trump’s economic policies and legislative actions impacting healthcare and Social Security.
On August 13, 2025, Nadler accused Trump of self-enrichment while Americans face economic challenges: “As American families struggle more and more with affordability under Trump’s disastrous economic policies, he’s exploiting the power of his office to pad his own fortune by billions. Congress must pass legislation to require presidents like Trump to disclose and divest any”.
Later that day, Nadler described hosting a round table with several organizations about recent healthcare legislation: “Today I hosted a round table with @ProtectOurCare, @LegalAidNYC, and @MountSinaiNYC to discuss the GOP’s Big Ugly Law that rips away healthcare for millions of Americans and funds tax breaks for billionaires. I will continue fighting to repeal this terrible law and protect the”.
On August 14, Nadler marked Social Security’s anniversary by joining Social Security Workers United: “I joined Social Security Workers United to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Social Security and to call for full staffing of @SocialSecurity. The Trump Administration is firing workers, closing offices, and threatening the benefits that millions of seniors rely on. I will never”.
Nadler has served in Congress since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 1977. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, he graduated from Columbia University in 1969 before earning a JD from Fordham University in 1978.
