Rep. Jerry Nadler, who represents New York’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has sharply criticized a provision in a recent funding bill, calling it among “the most corrupt and self-serving acts” he has witnessed during his tenure.

On November 12, 2025, Nadler posted on his social media account: “In my 33 years in Congress, this ranks among the most corrupt and self-serving acts I’ve ever witnessed.

House Republicans must strip this disgraceful, taxpayer-funded kickback for 8 GOP Senators from the bill and send it back to the Senate immediately.”

The following day, Nadler continued his criticism of Senate Republicans, stating: “He’s right.

Senate Republicans who stand to personally profit from this kickback will never pass a standalone bill to repeal it.

Anyone who votes for this bill as written is complicit in one of the most corrupt and self-serving schemes I’ve seen in my 33 years in Congress.” (November 13, 2025)

Later that same day, Nadler announced his opposition to the funding bill: “Tonight I proudly voted NO on the Republicans’ funding bill.

Trump and House Republicans have abandoned Americans — allowing health care costs to increase, Trump to do what he wishes with Congressionally appropriated funds, and GOP Senators to receive taxpayer-funded kickbacks.” (November 13, 2025)

Nadler has represented New York’s 12th district since 1992 after succeeding Ted Weiss. He previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 until joining Congress. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University and Fordham University.
