Rep. Jerry Nadler, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district, recently expressed his disapproval of several actions taken by prominent figures through a series of tweets. Nadler, who has been a member of Congress since 1992 and previously served in the New York State Assembly, voiced his concerns regarding decisions affecting public health and national security.
On February 20, 2025, Rep. Nadler criticized Elon Musk for terminating a critical grant from the FDNY that was aimed at studying diseases in firefighters who responded to the September 11 attacks. In his tweet, he stated: “It’s disgraceful that Elon Musk has terminated a critical @FDNY grant aimed at studying diseases in the brave firefighters who faced the horrors of 9/11.” He further condemned DOGE’s justification for deeming this research ‘non-essential’, calling it an affront to those who risked their lives on that day.
In another tweet posted on the same day, Rep. Nadler addressed additional actions by Musk’s DOGE organization. He wrote: “This despicable act comes after Musk’s DOGE slashed funding and fired staff from the World Trade Center Health Program.” This program provides essential care for first responders and survivors suffering from illnesses related to September 11.
Later that day, Rep. Nadler also expressed his strong opposition to Kash Patel leading the FBI. He tweeted: “I’ve said it before, and I will state it unequivocally now: Kash Patel is not only completely unqualified to lead the FBI, he’s outright dangerous.” Nadler held accountable the 51 GOP Senators who voted for Patel’s appointment as Director.
