Rep. Jerry Nadler, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, has recently made public statements on legislative efforts and higher education funding through his official Twitter account.

On July 23, 2025, Rep. Nadler announced the introduction of new legislation aimed at supporting organ donation in collaboration with another congressman: “Today, @RepDonBacon and I introduced the Living Donor Protection Act bill package to remove roadblocks to organ donation and help save thousands of lives across the country. There are over 103,000 Americans on the national transplant list and too many people die each year while”.

Later that day, on July 24, 2025, Rep. Nadler criticized Columbia University for its financial dealings with the federal government. He stated: “I am deeply disappointed by reports of Columbia University’s outrageous and embarrassing $200 million capitulation to the Trump Administration’s repugnant extortion campaign. Let’s be clear: no investigation was ever conducted by the Department of Education’s Office of Civil”. This message was followed by a separate tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/vhdoJ7XnQ5”.

Rep. Nadler has represented New York’s 12th District in Congress since succeeding Ted Weiss in 1992 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, he graduated from Columbia University in 1969 before earning a law degree from Fordham University in 1978.
