Rep. Jerry Nadler, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, addressed constituents on August 19, 2025, through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), discussing the impact of federal policies on school supply costs and public transit developments.
In a post published at 16:58 UTC, Nadler commented on the financial pressures facing families during back-to-school season. He wrote, “It’s back to school season and Americans across the country are paying more for school supplies thanks to Trump’s tariffs and the Big Ugly Law. Trump and Republicans are so focused on giving tax breaks to their ultra-wealthy friends, they’re increasing costs for families https://t.co/VBj9kqzR4L”.
Later that day at 18:40 UTC, Nadler shared two additional posts. One included only a link (“https://t.co/ZDaB8IhMyW”). In another post at the same time, he expressed support for local infrastructure improvements: “I applaud this major milestone for the Second Ave Subway project that will improve commuting times and transit connectivity. I will always fight for mass transit funding. https://t.co/82X2mGfNMT”.
Nadler has represented New York’s 12th district in Congress since succeeding Ted Weiss in 1992. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, Nadler is an alumnus of Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
