Rep. Jerry Nadler, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, has used his social media platform to comment on recent national and local issues, including presidential authority in foreign affairs, congestion pricing in New York City, and public health concerns.
On January 3, 2026, Nadler criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding Venezuela: “Congress has not authorized the President to conduct a war in Venezuela nor has it authorized a ‘large scale strike’ as President Trump described it. Trump’s actions are completely illegal and unconstitutional. His apparent justification of these acts as a mere law enforcement”.
Two days later, on January 5, 2026, Nadler highlighted the impact of congestion pricing in New York City: “One year later and it’s clear congestion pricing is working and making New York better. There’s less traffic, safer streets, cleaner air, and major investments in public transit. I’m proud to have fought to make this a reality for decades and New Yorkers are seeing the”.
Later that same day, he addressed public health concerns related to measles outbreaks: “RFK Jr. and his pseudoscience extremists at the CDC are gambling with American children’s lives. As measles surges to levels not seen in decades, their contempt for science and public health is putting the entire country at risk. This is reckless, dangerous, and a generational”.
Nadler has served continuously in Congress since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1977 until his election to Congress (source: FACT 1; FACT 2). Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan (FACT 3), Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD) (FACT 4).
