Rep. Jerry Nadler, who has represented New York’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 1992, addressed several key issues in a series of tweets posted on January 8, 2026.
In a post from the morning of January 8, Nadler condemned actions by immigration authorities: “This morning I joined my @HouseJudiciary colleagues in calling out yesterday’s murder of an American citizen by ICE agents in Minnesota. We will never stop fighting until ICE agents are unmasked and the administration is held accountable for their lies and actions.” (January 8, 2026)
Later that day, Nadler commented on policy developments addressing economic issues for families in New York: “This announcement is a great step in tackling the affordability crisis and will provide much-needed relief to families across New York. Universal childcare creates family and economic stability and allows parents to pursue careers. @NYCMayor and @GovKathyHochul are delivering” (January 8, 2026)
In an additional statement regarding federal legislative action, Nadler criticized Republican lawmakers’ stance on water infrastructure: “177 House Republicans just voted to uphold the President’s veto of a bipartisan bill to deliver clean drinking water to rural communities in southeastern Colorado. The bill: – Passed the House and Senate by voice vote – Costs taxpayers nothing – Was vetoed by Trump after its” (January 8, 2026)
Nadler has been active in public service for decades, previously serving in the New York State Assembly before joining Congress over thirty years ago. He was born in New York City in 1947 and currently resides in Manhattan. His educational background includes degrees from Columbia University and Fordham University.
