Rep. Jerry Nadler, a longtime U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 12th district, posted several statements on September 25, 2025, addressing topics ranging from the potential government shutdown to concerns about the Department of Justice and recognition of Nobel Laureates.

In a post published at 14:26 UTC, Nadler addressed the possibility of a government shutdown and attributed responsibility to former President Trump and Republican lawmakers. He wrote, “If the government shuts down next week, Trump and Republicans own it. They will be the cause of millions of Americans losing health care coverage, millions more crushed with rising premiums, and countless civil servants living in fear of losing their jobs.”

Later that day at 16:18 UTC, Nadler highlighted his participation in an event honoring Nobel Laureates. He stated, “It was an honor to celebrate the Nobel Laureates whose names will be inscribed on the Nobel Monument in Theodore Roosevelt Park. May all who visit the monument reflect on these laureates’ profound impact on society and the world.”

By evening at 23:41 UTC, Nadler commented on actions by the sitting President regarding political opponents and use of federal agencies. He said, “The President is prosecuting his ‘political enemies’ and his retaliation knows no bounds. He has turned the Department of Justice into his personal weapon. The American people see this for what it is – a dangerous abuse of power that will ultimately fail. Justice may be blind”.

Nadler has represented New York’s 12th congressional district since replacing Ted Weiss in 1992 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, Nadler holds degrees from Columbia University (BA) and Fordham University (JD).
