The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 21 that a man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses after a domestic incident in Waterville.

The case is significant as it involves several charges, including both misdemeanors and a felony, related to alleged actions that endangered the welfare of another person and a child.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, a Road Patrol Deputy assigned to the Waterville Field Office received a walk-in complaint regarding a domestic incident that had occurred earlier that morning.

Following an investigation into the incident, John B. Klein, age 45, of Bridgewater NY, was located, arrested, and charged with harassment in the second degree (violation), petit larceny (misdemeanor), aggravated harassment in the second degree (misdemeanor), unlawful imprisonment in the second degree (misdemeanor), criminal mischief in the fourth degree (misdemeanor), endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor), and strangulation in the second degree (D felony).

Klein was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building where he was processed and held pending an arraignment in CAP Court. He was subsequently remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Village of Waterville Court at a later date.
