The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 18 that it is investigating a single car motor vehicle accident on Rome Westerville Road (Route 46) in the City of Rome. Authorities have closed Rome Westerville Road between Golf Course Road and Townline Road as the investigation continues.

The closure is in place to allow investigators to work safely at the scene and determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. The Sheriff’s Office has asked members of the public to avoid the area if possible until further notice.

Sheriff Robert Maciol said, “More details will be released when available.” He also requested that people steer clear of the affected section of road while law enforcement personnel conduct their work.

No additional information about injuries or causes has been released at this time. The Sheriff’s Office indicated that updates would be provided as more facts become available.

The situation remains under investigation, with officials emphasizing public cooperation for safety and efficiency.
