The New York State Public High School Athletic Association will host the Boys Tennis State Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY, beginning June 5 and concluding June 7. The event will feature 32 singles players and 64 doubles players from across the state competing for a state title.

Michael Scaturro, NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis State Coordinator, said, “We are looking forward to a beautiful weekend at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. We will bring the best boys tennis talent from across the state to the top venue in the world to compete for a State Championship. It will be a great three days of tennis.”

This year’s singles bracket includes returning competitors such as Will Bohner of Friends Academy and Justin Barrett of Liverpool. Bohner reached last year’s Round of 16 while Barrett was a quarterfinalist in 2023. The defending singles champion, Alexander Suhanitski from New Rochelle, is focusing on doubles this year with teammate Fynn Bowman. Last year’s doubles champions Pratik Nayak and Christopher Cho from Clarkstown South also return, along with Christian Bravo and Benjamin Wiese of Garden City, who reached last year’s quarterfinals.

Several returning doubles participants are playing with new partners this season, including Henry Xue (Horace Greeley), Charles Martin (Briarcliff), and Andrew Balsamo (Fairport). Nikhil Shah and Aayan Metha (Syosset) as well as Nayak and Cho (Clarkstown South) continue their partnerships into this year’s tournament.

First round matches begin Friday morning at 8:00 AM with both singles and doubles play continuing throughout the weekend. Quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for Saturday starting at 8:00 AM, followed by finals and medal matches on Sunday morning.

NYSPHSAA will also hold its Team Tennis Championships at the same venue on Friday, June 12. The event is free to attend, with more information available at nysphsaa.org.
