NYGOP Chair Ed Cox has criticized a recent court decision regarding New York’s 11th Congressional District, describing it as politically motivated. In a statement, Cox said, “This was a partisan ruling made by a partisan judge in a case brought by a notoriously partisan attorney.”

Cox accused Governor Kathy Hochul and other Democratic leaders in Albany of attempting to manipulate the district for political gain. “Kathy Hochul and Albany Democrats did not alter this district when they had a chance in 2024. This entire exercise is a cynical attempt to enact an illegal partisan gerrymander under the guise of a voting rights case. It is shocking that the Governor and Attorney General did not defend the law that the legislature passed and the Governor signed in 2024 – they are clearly colluding with the plaintiffs in this case,” he stated.

He also pointed out the long-standing nature of the district: “The Staten Island/Brooklyn Congressional District has existed for almost 45 years. Kathy Hochul and Democrats insult the intelligence of NY-11 voters when they engage in such partisan gerrymandering.”

Governor Kathy Hochul, who has served as New York’s governor since 2021 and is noted as both an American politician and lawyer, is recognized as New York’s first female governor and is affiliated with the Democratic Party (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathy_Hochul).
