NYGOP Chair Ed Cox has expressed strong criticism towards New York Democrats for including a $10 million legal payout to Attorney General Letitia James in the state budget. Cox argues that this allocation is an inappropriate use of taxpayer money, describing it as “an outrageous abuse of power.”

Cox’s statement highlights his concern over what he perceives as corruption within the political system. He stated, “This is what corruption looks like in plain sight: political insiders rigging the system to protect their own, while hardworking families get shortchanged.” According to Cox, the funds are being used to cover James’ personal legal fees.

The NYGOP Chair further accused James of using her office for partisan purposes and emphasized that taxpayers should not be responsible for her personal legal issues. He remarked, “There is no justification for forcing taxpayers to bankroll the personal legal problems of the state’s top law enforcement officer.”

Cox also criticized Democrats in Albany for their actions, stating that they are protecting their power and allies at the expense of public trust. He concluded by saying, “Every Democrat who remains silent is complicit in this disgraceful misuse of public funds.”
