NYGOP Chair Ed Cox has issued a statement in response to recent data from Axios, highlighting contrasting population trends between New York City and cities in red states. The data indicates a decline in New York City’s population, while cities in traditionally Republican states are experiencing growth.

Cox attributes the population decrease in New York City to what he describes as “failed Democrat leadership.” He contrasts this with the prosperity of red-state cities, which he claims are characterized by “booming economies, safe streets, and opportunity.”

He further criticizes Albany Democrats for policies that he believes have led to high taxes, increased crime rates, and a high cost of living. According to Cox, these factors have driven away businesses and families. He warns that this trend will persist unless there is a political shift towards Republican leadership in New York.

“Albany Democrats have driven away businesses, families, and the middle class,” Cox stated. “This trend will continue until we elect Republicans and make New York a place where people want to stay, not leave.”
