New York State Senator Steve Chan, representing Brooklyn’s 17th District, delivered the official response from the Senate Republican Conference to the State of the State address. In his remarks, Chan highlighted ongoing challenges for New Yorkers, citing concerns about rising living costs and public safety.
“Across the State, families continue to struggle with rising costs, declining public safety, and no clear path to address any problems that we are facing every day,” Chan said in his statement.
The State of the State address is traditionally delivered by the governor. Kathy Hochul has served as New York’s governor since 2021 and is a member of the Democratic Party. She is also recognized as New York’s first female governor. More information about Governor Hochul can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathy_Hochul.
The Republican response comes amid ongoing debates in Albany over policy priorities and approaches to issues such as affordability and crime.
