Less than two weeks after a previous incident, the New York State Republican Party headquarters has been vandalized again with Nazi imagery. Leaders from the party have responded strongly to the recurring acts.

New York GOP Chair Ed Cox condemned the vandalism and called it a threat to the wellbeing of their employees and guests. “Republican Party headquarters has been defaced with Nazi imagery for the second time in two weeks. This hateful vandalism invites political violence and threatens the well-being of our employees and guests,” stated Cox. He acknowledged Governor Hochul’s prior condemnation of the first act and called on Chuck Schumer and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to discourage political violence. Cox expressed gratitude for the Albany Police Department and the Albany County District Attorney’s office for their attention to the matter.

House Republican Leadership Chair Elise Stefanik also spoke out against the vandalism, calling it a “disgusting criminal act” and an attempt to intimidate the party. “I stand in full solidarity with the NYGOP and all those who reject political violence. We must ensure the perpetrator of this heinous crime is swiftly identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Stefanik added. She reiterated the need to restore civility in political dialogue.

Congressman Mike Lawler commented on the wider climate of political violence, attributing its rise to rhetoric from Democratic leaders. “The growing calls for political violence we’re seeing around the country are being fueled by Democrats like Chuck Schumer, JB Pritzker, Federica Wilson, and others”, Lawler stated, emphasizing the need for accountability and legal action against those responsible for such actions.

The investigation into these incidents by local authorities is ongoing, with leaders pressing for the prosecution of those involved.
