The New Rochelle Parks Department announced on May 21 that the city’s waterfront parks will officially open for Memorial Day weekend, starting Saturday, May 23. The openings are available to both residents and visitors on weekends and holidays.

The announcement is significant as it marks the start of seasonal access to popular outdoor spaces in New Rochelle. The parks will be open on Saturdays and Sundays through June 26, including Memorial Day. Starting June 27, all waterfront parks will operate seven days a week until Labor Day on September 7.

Parking lot admittance at Hudson Park, Joe Curtis Five Islands Park, and Davenport Park is scheduled from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The opening includes access to Hudson Beach, outdoor showers, the Hudson Park Café located on the sundeck, public restrooms, and staffed parking lots. These amenities aim to provide convenience for all park visitors.

“While all of our parks, playgrounds and nature facilities citywide are enjoyed this time of the year, we always look forward to Memorial Day Weekend as the official opening of our popular waterfront parks,” said Parks & Recreation Commissioner Vin Parise.

Parking is free for holders of a Park Pass. Residents without a pass pay $5 for parking while non-residents pay $10. Information about obtaining a New Rochelle Park Pass can be found by calling 914-654-2087, emailing Info@NewRochelleNY.gov, visiting NewRochelleNY.gov/Parks or going in person to the Department of Parks & Recreation at City Hall during business hours.
