Rep. Jerry Nadler, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district, shared his perspectives on recent political actions via social media. His comments addressed controversial decisions and legislative proposals with implications for public policy and safety.

On June 10, 2025, Rep. Nadler criticized former President Donald Trump for “repeating the same old lies to justify his unprecedented and dangerous actions in Los Angeles County.” Nadler disputed Trump’s claims regarding water management in the region, stating that “No, he didn’t send water to LA. No, the wildfires weren’t caused by a water restriction.” Instead, he accused Trump of ordering “billions of gallons of water to be flushed from” local reserves. “Trump is repeating the same old lies…”

In another post on the same day, Nadler highlighted the historical context and potential ramifications of repealing the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. He noted that “The House unanimously passed the FACE Act in the 1990s following the violent murder of an OB/GYN, Dr. David Gunn, by an anti-abortion extremist outside a women’s clinic in Pensacola, Florida.” He emphasized that these consequences are not merely theoretical but have real-world implications for public safety and access to healthcare services. “The consequences of repealing…”

Furthermore, Nadler expressed concern over his Republican colleagues’ proposal to repeal this bipartisan legislation designed to protect individuals involved in reproductive care from violence or obstruction. He asserted that Republicans aim to undermine protections afforded by this law: “Let’s be clear about exactly what’s going on here – Republicans hope that…” This proposal has sparked significant debate regarding its impact on reproductive rights and personal safety.“My House Republican colleagues just proposed…”

Jerry Nadler has been serving in Congress since 1992 after replacing Ted Weiss. He was previously a member of the New York State Assembly from 1977 until his congressional election. Born in New York City in 1947 and currently residing in Manhattan, Nadler graduated from Columbia University with a BA in 1969 and earned a JD from Fordham University in 1978.
