Rep. Jerry Nadler, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 12th district, has recently shared his views on two significant healthcare-related issues via social media. His comments come amid ongoing debates about healthcare policies and the role of technology in medical decision-making.
On June 4, 2025, Nadler criticized the Trump administration for revoking guidance that mandated hospitals to provide abortion care in emergencies. He expressed concern that this action could lead to confusion among healthcare providers and might pressure doctors to hesitate during critical situations. In his tweet, he stated, “Yesterday, the Trump administration revoked clear guidance that told hospitals they must provide abortion care in emergencies.” Nadler warned that such changes could put patients at greater risk despite existing laws requiring lifesaving care.
Later on the same day, Nadler addressed another issue concerning Medicare Advantage plans using artificial intelligence (AI) to make coverage decisions. He emphasized the importance of human oversight in medical decisions and advocated for stronger regulatory measures against AI-driven denials of care. In his post, he wrote, “I’m proud to have worked with @RepJudyChu and @SenWarren to call on CMS to crack down on Medicare Advantage plans using AI to deny care.” Nadler argued that seniors should not lose coverage based solely on algorithmic assessments.
Nadler’s remarks reflect his longstanding commitment to healthcare advocacy and legislative action aimed at protecting patient rights and ensuring equitable access to medical services.
